Even the app only need a small set of its features, the entire thing is running just like a virtual machine. The Problem is, electron apps are not only resource hunger, but also unpredictable sometimes. Will user accept this? Unfortunately the complexity of chrome (which electron is based on) is already comparable to some old OSs, we even have ChromeOS isn't it? How? Just develop it for Linux and bundle it in a virtual machine file then distribute to users. Why I have such a disagreement with Electron? Let me propose another great idea of software development that will cross any platform, zero extra coding needed and behave universally uniform. The reason I said this is kind of sad is, they're encouraged just because there's no better options for their users. Therefore for most 1P users, 1P8 is still their best choice as long as it's not a horror like evernote or arqbackup 6. Besides moving from 1P to others is not painless, especially for information other than logins. Other password managers are functions lacking or security-wise concerned or sharing the same problem as 1P8.
I personally think KeePass and passwordstore are more powerful and more reliable in long term (already on my way move to KeePass), but they're too much trouble to many users. Very likely (also kind of sadly) most users will stay with them. My suggestion is, try it after it's released and then decide.
